Google doesn’t checks your meta tags anymore

If you want to optimize your website for Google itself then it’s of no use to waste too much time in writing meta tags as Google avoids them completely while placing your site in SERPs. It just check the title tags and meta description. However, it is still a good practice to write your meta tags as other search engines do. Yahoo, Bing and Ask still look for meta tags, so if you want to optimize your site for these search engines too then you must write the meta tags as usual.
